21 Day Fix – Let the Soreness Begin!

Today my entire body hurts. My core muscles, my abs, shoulders, back, thighs, everything, are all sore. But it’s a good kind of pain!

On Monday I started the 21 Day Fix, a combination diet and exercise plan. The “diet” part is all about portion control and being aware of what kind of food you’re eating, which is really fun when you have cute color coded tupperware for each food group (protein, fruit, veggies, starches, good fatty foods, etc).

So far I’ve been pretty good about sticking to the food plan. Shakeology (Beach Body’s awesome protein+nutrients powder for smoothies) is definitely my favorite. I’ve always been a protein smoothie person and the chocolate Shakeology mix is the best!

The workouts (aka the main reason why I’m doing the 21 Day Fix) are kicking my butt. Monday’s workout was 30min of full body cardio WITH WEIGHTS! AHHH! What a way to start off the week. I definitely thought I might die after that workout. So much sweat. So much soreness. Whew. Thankfully there’s another girl at work who’s also doing the 21 Day Fix, so we can commiserate and encourage each other.

Here’s a breakdown of the last few days. I like to add a lot of things to my shakes/smoothies, so sometimes they get a little funky:

Monday:

Workout: Full body cardio! = so much pain. so exhausting. oof.

Shakeology: chocolate shakeology powder, baby spinach, baby carrots, shredded coconut, peanut butter, and almond milk.

Tuesday:

Workout: Upper body fix! – a nice break for my super sore legs.

Shakeology: chocolate shakeology powder, baby spinach, frozen strawberries, peanut butter, and almond milk.

Wednesday:

Workout: Lower body fix! – doing this tonight. NOT looking forward to it!

Shakeology: chocolate shakeology powder, whole banana, frozen strawberries, peanut butter.

Let me know if you are doing/have done/are planning to do the 21 Day Fix or something similar! Let’s encourage each other to stay fit and active!

  1. This is awesome! I’m so proud of you for doing this for yourself 🙂 I just finished a 30 day “Rise Up” Challenge with the Metabolic Method. I’ve owned a wellness company from home for a few years now but am taking it to another level and want to do way more mentoring; just as I’m working on my company plans this challenge appears and it was fabulous!!! I have videos on my Facebook and posts if you wanna see what I have so far for the challenge and I’m very excited to see what you accomplish in the next 21 days (or less)!!!

    • Thank you, Rachel! The diet part is proving to be more difficult than I previously thought. It’s tough steering clear of most starchy foods (aka cupcakes), especially since I work at a culinary/pastry school.
I’ll have to check out the “Rise Up” Challenge! Maybe I’ll do it after I’m done with the 21 Day Fix 😉
